Mainfolk

For candidates for local office

Running for local office? Give your campaign a website that is yours.

City council, school board, mayor, township, village, county or a park, library or fire district board: voters look you up before they vote, and a page on a social network is not a home you control. Tell the AI about you and your race and it drafts your campaign site in about a minute. You edit anything in place, publish your changes when they read right, and it is free to start.

No card for the free plan. When the wizard asks what you are building, choose “Something else” and describe your campaign.

  • Nonpartisan, for every party and none
  • Your own domain from $15 a month
  • Phone-first, built to WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Export everything, any time

What your campaign site can do

Everything a local race needs, and nothing you have to hire out.

These are the pieces Mainfolk builds today. Each one is a block you add, reorder and edit on the page, with no code and no webmaster.

Your story and your issues

Pages for who you are, why you are running and where you stand, written once and edited in place. The AI drafts the first version from a few lines about you and your race.

A donate button

A Donate card with optional preset amounts that links to your own checkout page (Stripe, PayPal, Donorbox or whichever your campaign uses). We link out; we do not process contributions.

Events and a calendar

Candidate forums, town halls, coffee hours and door-knocking days, listed with date, place and a link, easy for voters to find and easy for you to change.

Volunteer and yard sign forms

Build a form with the fields you need: name, phone, street, how they want to help. Every entry is saved and emailed to the campaign inbox.

Endorsements

A quotes block with the name and role of each person, for the neighbors, groups and local leaders who have said yes. Show only the endorsements you have received, and only with the permission of the person quoted.

News and updates

A news section is built in. Post a statement, a candidate forum recap or a thank-you in minutes, dated and linkable, with no plugin to install.

An email list

A newsletter signup block collects subscribers who confirm by email, and then you can send them updates. Your list stays yours.

Your own web address

Start on a free yourname.mainfolk.com address, then move to yourname.com on Launch or Pro when you are ready to print it on the signs.

What we do and do not do

A website, not a campaign finance or legal service.

We would rather you know the edges now than find them in October.

The straight version

Donations happen on your page, not ours. The Donate button links to the checkout your campaign already uses. We do not take contributions and we do not handle contribution reporting.

Disclaimers are yours to confirm. Campaign sites usually need a paid-for-by or similar line, and the rules differ by state and office. Check your state's rules. You can add the line you need to the footer of every page, and we do not tell you what it must say.

We stay out of the race. Mainfolk is nonpartisan. We do not write your platform, endorse anyone or take a side.

What it costs

Free to start. Your own domain for $15 a month.

Pick the plan that fits the size of the race. You can move up when the signs go out and change plans later. The full list is on the pricing page.

Free

$0

A real campaign site on a yourname.mainfolk.com address, with news and the AI builder. A small “Made with Mainfolk” note sits in the footer.

Launch

$15/mo, or $150/yr

Your own domain, no Mainfolk note, and room to invite 2 people to help edit.

Pro

$29/mo, or $290/yr

Everything in Launch, plus where your visitors come from and what they read, and room for 9 editors.

  • Describe your race. Your name, the office, your town and a few lines on why you are running. That is the whole brief.
  • The AI drafts the pages. A home page, an about page, your priorities and a way to reach you, ready to edit.
  • You edit in place. Click a heading, change the words, add an events or donate block, reorder the page.
  • Publish when it reads right. Changes to a page stay a draft until you publish them, and you can edit from your phone the night before a forum.
  • Take it with you. Export the whole site and its content whenever you like.

How it works

From a few lines about you to a live site in an afternoon.

You are running a campaign, not a web project. Start the free plan, answer the questions in the wizard and edit what the AI drafts.

Questions

Asked and answered.

The questions candidates ask first. If yours is not here, ask the engineer and you will get a straight answer.

Is Mainfolk partisan?

No. Mainfolk is nonpartisan and builds websites for candidates of every party and none, in races from school board to mayor. We do not endorse candidates, review your messaging or take a side.

Can people donate through the site?

The site carries a Donate button that links to the donation page your campaign already uses, whether that is a Stripe payment link, PayPal, Donorbox or another service. Mainfolk does not take or process contributions and does not do your campaign finance reporting. The checkout happens on your own donation page.

What about the paid-for-by line and other disclaimers?

Rules about disclaimers on campaign materials differ by state and by office, so check your state's rules or ask your election office or counsel. Mainfolk lets you put any line you need in the footer text of every page, but we do not tell you what it must say.

Can I use my own web address?

Yes, on Launch or Pro. Launch is $15 a month or $150 a year and puts the site on a domain you own, such as yourname.com, with no Mainfolk note in the footer. The free plan gives you a yourname.mainfolk.com address.

How fast can I have a site?

The AI builds a first draft of the whole site from a short description of you and your race in about a minute, and you edit anything in place. Changes to a page stay a draft until you publish them.

Can volunteers help me edit it?

Yes. Launch lets you invite 2 people to help edit and Pro lets you invite 9, so a campaign manager or a volunteer can post events and news without sharing your login.

What happens after election day?

Keep it as the home for your term in office, switch to a different plan, or take it down. You can export your entire site and its content whenever you want, free, so nothing is held hostage.

Does the site work on a phone?

Yes. Every page is phone-first and built to WCAG 2.1 AA, so voters on any device and with a screen reader can read it.

Elected already? See the sites for cities and villages, special districts, fire departments and police departments, or the overview for local government.
